The Four Elements Curriculum

The Iyari Four Elements Curriculum framework will guide learners through a student-centered journey using our nature-based themes of Earth, Air, Fire, & Water. These themes will be used to inspire learners and explicitly link all projects back to our natural roots. Learners will learn with, from, and alongside the natural spaces that make the Iyari school an incredible learning environment.

Interdisciplinary

Learners cycle through a range of different multidisciplinary projects and are challenged to create and problem-solve, alongside the development of traditional subject knowledge and skills.

Place-based

Learning is connected to local holidays and seasonal changes. The entire community is involved in projects, celebrations, and offsite learning expeditions.

Authentic Assessment

Assessment and evaluation are not driven by standardized exams. We value and celebrate the differences that each learner brings with them. Students use self and peer assessment, as well as receive feedback from educators and experts.

Whole-child Development

All learning experiences incorporate Iyari skills, values, and learning objectives with careful consideration of developmental level and readiness. The balance between these aspects of our program is designed specifically to develop the whole child.
